The city of Linz is in northeastern Austria. Linz, which is crossed by the river Danube, is the capital of the state of Upper Austria.
We recommend that you visit the Hauptplatz, the city’s main square, which has a Baroque style column in its centre, in honour of the holy trinity. The old town hall that dates back to the 16th century and Mozart’s house, where the celebrated musician composed the Linz symphony, are also worth seeing. You could also take a look at St Martin’s Church, which possesses traces of the 18th century, and the Linz Cathedral, the largest in Austria.
There are various ways to move around the city but the most traditional are travelling on the mini train, the Linz City Express, which does numerous different tours along the banks of the Danube and taking the impressive mountain train, the Pöstlingbergbahn, that covers the steepest route in Europe.
